Veterinary Assistants

Our veterinary assistants are to assist the veterinarian or the veterinary technician in their daily tasks as well as some basic duties. They help veterinary technicians provide nursing and comfort care, perform treatments or basic laboratory diagnostic tests, position patients for and process radiographs, and prepare patients for surgery.

  • Arthur

    Arthur

Growing up in Guam, Arthur easily found himself surrounded by animals; including cats, dogs, and chickens and at one point 22 ducks! His experience as a young pet owner helped him appreciate what it means to be a pet owner. We are lucky to have had Arthur as an employee since 1997 – he joined us at 17 years old! He graduated from Yuba College with his Associates of Science degree in Veterinary Technology and hold professional interests in dental procedures and radiology. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. And of course his two dogs, A.J. and Amadeo!

  • Jennifer

With roots in the human healthcare field, it was when her animals comforted her after the passing of a family member to convinced Jennifer to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She became a Certified Veterinary Assistant and is currently attending classes to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. In addition to her RVT graduation, Jennifer hopes to expand her knowledge of exotic and large animal care. Her favorite part of being a pet owner is that no matter what brand her clothes are or what her makeup looks like, her pets love her unconditionally. Professionally, she loves that her job allows her to get to know our patients and their human families and she is surrounded by inspirational stories!

  • Johanna

    Johanna

For as long as she can remember Johanna has always surrounded herself with furry friends! It was her passion for pets and a love for science that motivated her to pursue veterinary medicine, the perfect blend of the two. Recently, she graduated from the Yuba College Veterinary Technology program and joined Butte Oroville in May 2013. Helping animals, building lasting relationships with clients and working with our awesome staff enforces how much she loves her job – and helping animals of course! She is passionate about community involvement and enjoys volunteering for the local Boys and Girls club.
